Mahurangi Psychology is dedicated to providing exceptional psychological services to the local community and beyond. Jo focuses on personal attention and a commitment to the well-being of her clients. We aim to create a warm and friendly environment where individuals and families feel supported and understood. Our practice celebrates neurodiversity and upholds respect for all identities and lived experiences.

 

Our service isn’t designed for crisis situations or high levels of risk. If you are concerned for your own or a young person’s safety, call 111 or contact your local mental health crisis team 

 

Our services

 

Psychological Therapy

Our first appointment will be an initial assessment where Jo gets to know you/your child/teen and your reasons for seeking therapy. After that, we’ll work together to get a sense of how many sessions may be helpful as you work toward health and healing, usually weekly or every two weeks - tailoring the pace to what feels manageable for you and is clinically appropriate.

 

Initial assessment session: $260+GST for 80 minutes ($299)
Following sessions:                 $175+GST for 50 minutes ($201.25)

 

Financial support options can be explored such as WINZ, Gumboot Friday, and health insurance.

 

Availability: Thursday 8.30-5pm, Friday 7.30 - 4pm. In person and online.

 

Location: Bertram House, 21 Bertram St, Warkworth.

About us

Jo is a warm and friendly Counselling Psychologist who works collaboratively with children, teens, and families. She provides a safe space for exploring challenges and supporting growth, helping young people, parents and their whānau flourish. She draws on evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and play therapy strategies, to create an empathetic and non-judgemental environment where individuals feel validated and valued. 

Jo provides therapeutic support for people experiencing challenges such as anxiety, phobias, depression and mood concerns, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), emotional regulation, parent-child relationship issues, stress management, grief and the many emotions it brings, along with ASD and ADHD support. 

Outside of work, Jo loves spending time with family and friends enjoying a swim or a walk at the local beaches, or reading a great book!

 

Professional Qualifications: BHSc (Hons), MHSc (First class Hons), PGDipCounsPsych
-Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology awarded with Clear Distinction, Auckland University of Technology
-Master of Health Science (Psychology) awarded with Honours
-Bachelor of Health Science (Hons)
